Case dropped

Exactly three months after Norway's Supreme Court ruled that my blogging is outside the purview of criminal law, the police have finally conceded that they have to drop their case against me. It still needs to be finally decided by the Attorney-General, but at least the cops have admitted they have no case.

The stage is now set for claiming compensation for wrongful prosecution, including the three weeks I spent in prison. I haven't discussed the details with my lawyer yet, but we expect to be reimbursed according to the usual rates for baseless prosecution and imprisonment. I have been treated and portrayed as a criminal, even though I broke no laws, so I am clearly entitled to compensation like any other falsely accused person. However unpopular my opinions may be should have no bearing on this. And if the state refuses to settle for a reasonable amount, then we shall sue them.

Congratulations Eivind - this is tremendous news.

I'm very happy to hear this, Eivind. The police were wrong for arresting you in the first place, and it's no doubt that their case was weak already from the moment they apprehended you. Congratulations!

Congratulations! This is great news. I wonder if this case should now a precedent for international law?

Either way, it's a great victory for men everywhere. This and the Assange Case in Sweden looks like it could spell the end for Scandanavia feminism within a few years!

Guy Faux-wkes said...

The Assange case is fucking beyond ridiculous..

Even worse is how so very many lazy "common people" in places like Norway believe Assange must've really done something wrong, for all this drama to have happened to him.

Yes, he pumped sperm into two otherwise willing, consenting partners - no doubt two mighty nations like Sweden and the UK should put heaven and earth into motion to punish that asshole..

It was SEX!!!

Seems a majority of Norwegian, adult or semi-adult citizens are sleepwalkers in life, and ever immature...

(It's equally disturbing how many people here who think that feminism is normal, feminism is the norm, and that saying one is NOT feminist, or even anti-feminist (ghasp!! - what sacrilige, what cursing inside the church!) is unsettling and provocative.)

Sue them anyway just for the hell of it. It's what they did to you. An eye for an eye plus more publicity for your cause

Congrats, Eivind. Things are looking up :)

Feminism is a stateorientated ideology. They are about singlemotherhood, state care of children and assisted reproduction...please note that the massmurderer from 22.Juli is a singlemotherchild, like most massmurderers are.

I also think you should sue the State anyway.

Regardless of your final decision, it is indeed great to read that justice has finally been served.

Best regards from Romania.

Dear Eivind,

If you had not been a man standing up for freedom of speech you would have been innocent jailed. You made sure the world was watching. You are one of my heroes. Keep on the good work and be very careful with your communication by your internett.

Eivind Berge said...

I intend to write more and more often. But pedohysteria and in particular the female sex offender charade are so profoundly disturbing subjects that I can only stomach them in small doses. All the insanity and hate surrounding normal and harmless sexuality make me so angry that I can scarcely stand to hear more news stories about it, let alone write anything much because it makes me tremble with rage. All the seething hatred is probably not good for my health either.

But these are also extremely important subjects, I feel, so we do need to confront them. Feminist sex-hostility is out of control and we can't just allow this madness to continue.

Ah, the law of unintended consequences :) The sex purchase law harms the hookers even more than the buyers? That's how it goes when you send the blue thugs to police an issue that was never a problem in the first place. Shouldn't be very surprising, really, since harassing people is what cops do, and common sense tells us it is impossible to subdue one part in a mutually beneficial market transaction without also hurting the other...

Anonymous said...

It also goes to show that the police has no empathy for the hooker, no more than the buyer. I am sure the regular john has far more empathy and far more care for a prostitute than a police-officer or a politician.

I have to say your blog is very provocative and I like it. Some brilliant posting in there too. I just would like to note that while I agree with many libertarian principles, I come from a "leftist" background, and I can't help but take offense sometimes when this is said in a disdainful way. An intelectually honest people will respect the truth wherever it comes from, and there are intellectually honest people in the left too.

Kind regards.

Anyone buying from the Nigerian prostitutes is providing profits for this kind of West-African criminal network: http://www.vg.no/nyheter/innenriks/artikkel.php?artid=10063343

Eivind Berge said...

It seems most of their profits are enabled by the war on drugs. Drugs will find a way, and the drug war makes it so insanely lucrative. Anyway, aside from the complications caused by the drug war, what is wrong with doing business with this West-African criminal network, as opposed to any other business? Is it because they are black? They seem to be model tenants, at least, apart from living in student housing without being students.

Anonymous said...

They are indeed model tenants, because it's so bad for business to raise any suspiion or ruffle any flatmate feathers..

Problem is, they are occupying rooms belonging to students, when there are thousands of qualified applicants waiting in line to get into this type of housing, and also, not least, they are a menace and a nuisance on the streets in Oslo, being two or three hundred on Karl Johan and the vicinity, harassing men all along the stretch.

There is nothing but high blood pressure and/or stress to gain from getting the attention of these individuals. Is it because they are black? Hard to tell for sure, but I've read that black women have markedly higher levels of testostone than women of any other ethnicity, and that certainly seems to shine through. There's also a cultural ingredient, perhaps.

Some rather few of them are sweet, sexy and feminine, and I'd say ok to buying from those. That might help shape the market into more agreeable conditions also, in the long run. (Probably wishful thinking, but still.)

So, to be precise, this is a concern for people who want to get into student housing, and have legitimate grounds to do so (and you could, if you wanted to, as there are no age limits on such in Oslo - all you need to do is register for a study in Oslo, and pass exams), and for people who like to walk on Karl Johan after dark. Most others in Oslo, i.e. the majority of inhabitants, won't have much trouble with this.

"The Committee regrets the widespread and, in some cases, prolonged use of solitary confinement, which might constitute a violation of the Convention. While noting with concern that almost one third of the cases concerned prisoners on remand, the Committee regrets that detailed statistics on the use and the length of solitary confinement are not yet available. The Committee also expresses its concern about the existing legal basis for the use of solitary confinement, as it is not formulated with sufficient precision, leaving the possibility for highly discretionary decisions, which prevents the possibility of administrative or judicial supervision. The Committee regrets that detainees are not always appropriately informed on the grounds for imposition of solitary confinement and that the systems for control and review do not appear to ensure that they enjoy appropriate legal protection (arts. 2, 11 and 16)."
